When and why to modernise the lift

Why do I need to upgrade my elevator?
PERSONAL SAFETY: This is the main reason why old, outdated lifts need to be replaced or upgraded. In the Czech Republic, more than half of the lifts, especially in apartment buildings, are still in a poor condition. Unfortunately, the accident statistics on these devices are alarming.
In some cases, even these accidents do not come without loss of life. The biggest safety hazards on old elevators are mainly: the absence of car doors, inaccurate stopping of the elevator at station level and then the fatigue of materials in the risk areas.
What's the risk if I don't upgrade the elevator in time?
PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY: Each owner or operator of a lift is fully responsible for the fitness of the equipment operated and for maintaining the lift in accordance with the applicable technical standards, in accordance with the applicable legislation. In the event of any injury, damage to health or property, the operator of a non-compliant lift is liable to prosecution. This is even if the lift is properly serviced and all regular inspections and professional tests of the lift are carried out.
It is entirely up to the owners and operators of such equipment whether they decide to bring their lifts into a safe condition or continue to operate them at their own risk. A contracted professional service company is not authorized to shut down your lift, but only to point out any deficiencies in your equipment.
